Have no doubt, if crocheting gets popular enough it will suffer the same fate as every other consoom hobby these days. You'll have people who wouldn't know a crochet hook from the hole in their arse strip mining every craft shop in a 50 mile radius for stuff to scalp on eBay.
You'd get vintage yarn needles being sealed away in acrylic boxes and "graded". You'd get people arguing that buying these old but 90+ graded yarn needles is a really good investment actually. The whole thing is a disease
