Yes and because we do not have the same memory we had before so have to approach things differently.

So essentially the Xenforo "upgrade" is window dressing for what amounts to a less capable server. That's disappointing.

a) It would be impossible to enforce a rule requiring a name to be posted along with each photo, and in some cases it's better to not mention names so that interweb search engines won't pick up on those posts.Could I ask or suggest a favor?
One of the things that annoyed me on the old forum was folks posting a girl and not saying who she is. My suggestion would help on unnecessary postings of people asking who it is, which eat up server space.
Just an idea I had.
b) Text-only posts take up a miniscule amount of server storage. Thousands of text-only posts would hardly even be a blip on the radar, so trying to prevent those sort of posts would be a waste of energy. It's the multimedia that accounts for 98% of the storage used.
It is surprising, because I frequent another forum that uses Xenforo (titsintops), and that site has thousands of threads.
I guess storage space is more expensive on Xenforo than it was on the chan?

Like mentioned, there is no way to enforce that. But also we had a long belief to not force people to do that as there are a host of reasons people choose not to. You are free to ask but thats the most we can do.Could I ask or suggest a favor?

Yes it is. And unless we were guaranteed money with donations, we just wont take it on. But also remember for lack of a better term, what we post is controversial, so you can't really compare it to other sites.
I'll put it simple. We will do what we can to make this all work for you guys but as we said, that requires changes.

The amount of threads/posts is largely irrelevant. It's the amount of media files (pics and video) that chew up storage space very quickly, especially a site like this that exists solely for the purpose of sharing media files.
I run a quite large Xenforo site myself that has 10k+ threads and well over a million posts, and excluding the hosted media files, the space used for all that text is relatively miniscule within the MySQL database. Frankly, it's a non-factor in 2025. If you have so little server storage that you're worried about the size of the text content in the database, your server package sucks.
