I can think of many 80s movies with child/infant nudity presented in a non-sexual way (Parenthood, Baby Boom, The Blue Lagoon). More recently there was Innocence which had full frontal nudity but in shadows which made it "artistic" instead of gratuitous.
There was a time when you could show almost anything in a film and director's showed some restraint, often so they could get a PG rating. Now we have movies like A Serbian Film which I hope to never see (reading the Wiki spoiler was more than enough), but I hope to see more films like Innocence and Moonrise Kingdom.

Not at all surprising. People usually want to see what they're told not to look at.
